JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: SUPPORT SERVICE ASSISTANT
FLSA: Non-Exempt
12 month position-40 hours per week
REPORTS TO: Maintenance/Custodial/Transportation Supervisors
JOB GOAL: To provide support to the Maintenance, Preventative Maintenance and Transportation departments; to assist with maintaining bus route schedules and driver assignments; to assist with radio dispatch on a daily basis; to communicate information regarding support service functions and procedures; and to ensure compliance with financial, legal and administrative requirements of all assigned duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School education or equivalent required.
- Previous related work experience with public schools preferred.
- Previous transportation routing and dispatching experience preferred.
- Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, etc.) and other menu driven software.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, site personnel, district personnel and general public
- Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions quickly and in absence of supervisor.
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); must maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, take initiative, direct own workload and meet deadlines while working with frequent interruptions and minimum supervision.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Knowledge of school district policies and procedures beneficial.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide support to the Maintenance, Preventative Maintenance and Transportation departments
- Answer telephone and radio communications for departments, routing calls in a courteous manner; assist with radio dispatch
- Assists in maintaining copies of transportation personnel records to ensure all drivers are in compliance with State and Federal rules and regulations;
- Works closely with Human Resources to ensure transportation personnel are in compliance with certifications to include CDL, physicals, drug tests, 1st aid, CPR, agility and refreshers
- Assists in maintaining all bus route schedules and driver assignment for routes
- Schedule district travel requests and coordinates with appropriate parties and drivers
- Assists in billing services provided for student clubs
- Assists in the implementation of quality perpetual training program for all support services (Maintenance, Preventative Maintenance and Transportation departments)
- Assists in compiling data from a variety of sources, and prepare reports ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial, legal and/or administrative requirements; including data for the 100th day transportation report
- Assists in logging all daily mileage and student counts for the 100th day transportation report
- Assists in submitting the 100th day transportation report and vehicle inventory report to ensure appropriate district transportation funding
- Assists in maintaining the facility use calendar and scheduling events and avoid double booking
- Assists in billing for usage of facility
- Schedule and coordinate activities (i.e. appointments, meetings, calendars, etc.) for Maintenance, Preventative Maintenance and Transportation heads
- Assist with requisitions and purchase orders
- Establish and maintain files and records in accordance with district, state and/or federal regulations
- Maintain and order supplies and materials ensuring budget availability
- Ability to learn the Visions accounting system
- Regular and on-time attendance required
- Assist employees with time clock issues
- Assist employees with computer log in and programs
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 month position. Salary established by the Governing Board. Employee benefits in accordance with district policies.
EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the Governing Board's policy on evaluation of classified personnel. |
