Position Title: High School Principal
FLSA Status: Exempt (12-Month Position)
Reports to: Superintendent
Credentials/Experience:
- Valid Arizona Administrative Certificate
- Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Minimum of two years of experience as a Principal (preferred)
- Experience in curriculum development, decision-making, stakeholder collaboration, and school/program planning
Education:
- Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Superintendent, the High School Principal is responsible for leading and coordinating all aspects of the high school campus, fostering a positive learning environment, and ensuring academic excellence and operational efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Administration:
- Lead the development and implementation of programs and policies that meet the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical needs of adolescents.
- Screen, hire, supervise, and evaluate certificated and classified staff to maintain high performance standards.
- Curriculum and Instruction:
- Oversee an articulated curriculum program aligned with District and state standards.
- Conduct needs assessments and communicate findings to staff, District leadership, and the community.
- Student and Community Relations:
- Foster positive relationships with students, promoting respect and implementing effective discipline policies.
- Create a welcoming environment for feedback, participation, and partnerships from the community.
- Engage actively with local businesses and civic organizations to build strong community connections.
- Staff Development and Team Building:
- Motivate staff, enhance morale, and promote teamwork.
- Support ongoing professional development for self and team members.
- Implement and monitor an effective employee evaluation system.
- Budget and Resource Management:
- Administer a balanced budget and ensure compliance with District policies for handling school funds.
- Actively seek and support grant opportunities and fundraising initiatives.
- Operational Management:
- Supervise site operations to ensure safety, efficiency, and adherence to policies.
- Implement and monitor special programs and initiatives.
- Develop and lead a team to create a master schedule that maximizes program objectives and educational opportunities.
- Compliance and Legal Knowledge:
- Maintain knowledge of local policies and state and federal laws related to education and minors.
